NJM Helps Parents, Teen Drivers “Share the Keys”

NJM Insurance Group’s nationally recognized Teen Driver Safety Program now offers “Share the Keys (STK).”

STK is a 60- to 90-minute interactive driver education program designed to reduce teen driver crash risk through increased parental involvement. NJM provides this program at no cost to schools and communities.

STK supplies parents and teens with the information, tools, and resources needed to build and reinforce safe driving habits. Research has shown that increased parental involvement is a key component to reducing the risk of teen driving crashes by as much as 50 percent.

The program stresses the importance of teens making good choices behind the wheel, especially when adhering to New Jersey’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws. The presentation shows real-life examples of the possible consequences when teens made poor driving decisions.

“Share the Keys challenges parents to be more active in their teen’s licensing process and help prevent the needless loss of young lives,” said Violet Marrero, NJM’s consumer safety director.
