Michael A. Jacobs is a distinguished community leader, educator, and businessman from New Jersey whose career spans international trade, public service, and education governance. A graduate of Queen’s College, he served honorably in the United States Navy before embarking on a pioneering career in global apparel manufacturing and trade. As former National Treasurer/Chairman of the Regional Advisory Board and Co-Chairman of the NAFTA Congressional Forum of the U.S./Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Jacobs played a pivotal role in strengthening international commerce. His leadership earned him recognition from the U.S. government, foreign nations, and global organizations. Among his many achievements, he was awarded the contract to manufacture the uniforms for the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team—judged the best in the world at the Barcelona Games. He provided critical support in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. As a member of the Wheelchair Foundation’s International Board of Advisors, Mr. Jacobs was successful in securing a five million dollar appropriation from the United States Congress.
In addition to his business and civic accomplishments, Mr. Jacobs has devoted the last several years advancing public education in New Jersey. Since 2020, he has served as a Trustee and former President of the Ridgefield Board of Education, guiding the district through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with expertise in crisis management and fiscal oversight. He currently serves as President of the Bergen County School Boards Association, representing 76 school districts and 136,000 students, and as a member of the Board of Directors on the New Jersey School Boards Association. Through these roles, he has championed advocacy, innovation, and collaboration to strengthen schools and better serve students and families across the state.
